Lyle Edward Carman, 92, of Kimball, SD passed away Saturday, June 10, 2017 at the Aurora-Brule Nursing Home in White Lake, SD. Funeral Services are 10:30 A.M. Wednesday, June 14, 2017 at Kimball Protestant Parish. A Committal Service with Military Honors will follow at Kimball Community Cemetery.
Lyle Edward Carman was born on March 17, 1925 to Adrian and Grace (Putzier) Carman in Kimball, SD. He attended school in Kimball and went on to serve his country in the US Army from June of 1945 until November of 1946. He returned to a career in farming and was also employed as a Rural Letter Carrier. He was a recipient of the Outstanding Handicapped Employee Award from the United States Postal Service, Omaha Division. On June 5, 1955 Lyle was united in marriage to Betty Jane Hicks at the First Presbyterian Church in Kimball.
Lyle was a member of Protestant Parish, Drips American Legion Post #130 and volunteered his time at the South Dakota Tractor Museum in Kimball. When out and about, he could always be entertained by people watching.
Grateful for having shared in Lyle’s life: his wife of 62 years, Betty Carman of Kimball, SD; two children: Clayton Edward Carman of Fairbanks, AK and Kathy (Dean) Moffis of Horseshoe Bend, ID; two grandchildren: Shawn and Ryan Carman; four great-grandchildren: Hopper, Rebel, Quinn and Landon Carman; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Lyle was preceded in death by his parents, Adrian and Grace Carman; a brother, Harley Carman; and three sisters, Mardell Marshall, Esther Hanten and Joyce Korthals.
