Albert Lee Delany, 80, of Platte, SD passed away Friday, January 26, 2018 at Avera McKennan Hospital and University Health Center in Sioux Falls, SD. Services will be held at a later date.
Albert Lee Delany was born on November 20, 1937, the youngest of ten children, to Allen and Ruth (Waddell) Delany in Platte, SD. He attended country school in the area and then began a lifelong career in farming. Later, he developed a talent for beekeeping and was a member of the Beekeepers Association.
Albert was very proud of the fact that he was the youngest living descendant of his grandparents, William and Catherine Delany. His grandfather was actually a Civil War veteran, having been a soldier in the Union Army. Albert was also a sportsmen, enjoying fishing and all kinds of hunting.
Grateful for having shared in Albert’s life: his two sisters: Betty Justice of Thornton, CO and Alvena Stoll and her husband, William of Pukwana, SD; along with many nieces and nephews; and special friends: Nancy Endres, Don and Kathy Teeslink and the Jim VanderPol family all of Platte, SD.
Albert was preceded in death by his parents, Allen and Ruth; two brothers: Robert and Ben; and five sisters: Margaret, Grace, Adeline, Iola and infant sister, Nellie.
