William C. Conway, 88, of Kimball, SD passed away Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Sanford Chamberlain Medical Center. A Memorial Service for Bill and his wife, Betty will be held at 4:00 P.M. Saturday, August 31, 2019 at Kimball Protestant Parish. Burial will be held at a later date.

William Charles Conway was born on October 18, 1923 to Reg and Cecil (Meyer) Conway in Aberdeen, SD. He attended school in Orient and Polo, SD before beginning a career in farming and ranching. On May 3, 1943 he was united in marriage to Burnetta Leafgreen at St. Joseph Parish in Orient. Together they had two daughters, Susan and Pam. In May of 1945 he began serving his country in the United States Army during World War II. After his honorable discharge in December of 1946, he returned to farming.
Bill enjoyed fishing, the challenge of breaking and riding horses and participating in cattle drives. He was a member of St. Joseph Parish. He was united in marriage to Betty Calkins on December 15, 1978 in Mitchell, SD.
Grateful for having shared in Bill’s life: his wife of 33 years, Betty Conway of Kimball, SD; his two daughters: Susan (Ron) Brueggeman of Miller, SD and Pam Wagner of Armour, SD; three step-children: Patti Nelson and Bruce Flaugh, both of Vermillion, SD and Toni Flaugh of Fort Dodge, IA; three granddaughters: Lisa (Bob) Simpson of Huron, SD, Lori (Garry) Peterka of Miller, SD and Daline (Jay) Gellhaus of Aberdeen, SD; seven great-grandchildren: Jennifer and Justin Simpson, Jordan, Darin and Kristen Peterka and Braden and Logan LeGrand; a brother-in-law, Harold Schaefers of Orient, SD; along with a niece and two nephews.
Bill was preceded in death by: his parents; a sister, Janie Schaefers and a grandson, Kip Brueggeman.
