Obituary for David Errol "Dave" Miller

David Errol "Dave"  Miller
David Errol Miller, 73, of Plankinton, SD passed away Thursday, September 20, 2018 at Firesteel Healthcare Center in Mitchell, SD. Funeral Services are 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, September 25, 2018 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Plankinton. A Committal Service with Military Honors will follow at Mizpah Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Church from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Monday, September 24, 2018 with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service.

David Errol Miller was born on September 17, 1945 to Herman and Muriel (Taylor) Miller in Mitchell, SD. He graduated from Plankinton High School in 1963 and went on to attend South Dakota State University in Brookings and Northern State University in Aberdeen, SD. David then served his country in the US Army from March 6, 1966 – December 15, 1970 during the Vietnam War as a Helicopter Mechanic and Pilot. He was a decorated Veteran and a Chief Warrant Officer earning several medals, including the Distinguished Flying Cross.

On July 12, 1968 Dave was united in marriage to Cheryl Goepfert St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Plankinton. During his career, he was self employed as a Computer Programmer and Farmer. David was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and Goeres-Doering American Legion Post #96 in White Lake, SD; he also enjoyed gardening.

Grateful for having shared in Dave’s life: his wife of over 50 years, Cheryl Miller of Plankinton, SD; two daughters: Carey (Brent Stille) Miller of Sioux Falls, SD and Casey (John) Schmidt of Plankinton, SD; four grandchildren: Philip, Gabriel, Xavier and Zita Schmidt; many nieces and nephews; a brother-in-law, Rick Andersen of Minneapolis, MN; a sister-in-law, Ruth (Dennis) (Goepfert) McCormick of Blair, NE; along with many friends.

David was preceded in death by his daughter, Camille Miller (2001); his parents, Herman and Muriel Miller; a brother-in-law, Ronald Dodd; a sister, Marlene Dodd (Andersen); three nieces; two nephews; father and mother-in-law, Arnold and Esther Goepfert; three brothers-in-law: Earl (Vivian) Goepfert, Henry (Jackie) Goepfert and Arnold Goepfert, Jr.; and a sister-in-law, Ethel (Paul) Meier.

Memorials in Dave’s honor may be given to the charity of your choice.
