Eleanor H. Olivier, 86, of Corsica, SD passed away Saturday, November 10, 2018 at Douglas County Memorial Hospital in Armour, SD. Funeral Services are 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, November 13, 2018 at the Aurora Reformed Church in Aurora Center, SD. A Committal Service will follow at Aurora Reformed Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the Church from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Monday, November 12, 2018 with a 7:00 P.M. Prayer Service.

Eleanor H. (Nydam) Olivier was born on June 21, 1932 to Arie and Minnie (Lubbinge) Nydam in Bennett County, SD. She attended country school and was united in marriage to John Olivier on March 12, 1952 at the Aurora Reformed Church in Aurora Center, SD. She worked as a janitor at the Aurora Center School and in the laundry department of the Good Samaritan Society in Corsica, SD.

Eleanor accepted Jesus and made Profession of Faith as a teenager. She was a member of the Aurora Reformed Church and Dorcas Society, as well as a Sunday School Teacher. She enjoyed embroidery, gospel and country music, polka and waltzes. Eleanor loved vegetable gardening and canning what she grew, she was also famous for her delicious sour cream raisin pie and potato salad.

Grateful for having shared in Eleanor’s life: her husband of over 66 years, John Olivier of Corsica, SD; three children: Arla (Leslie) Crago, Joann (Dan) Moller and Dan Olivier all of Stickney, SD; five grandchildren and six great grandchildren: Chad (April) Crago – Ty and Sam, Nathan (Lori) Crago – Adley and Harper, Amber (Luke) Muller – Gavin and Arya, Megan (Justin) Persson and Aaron Moller; five sisters-in-law: Irene Nydam of Corsica, SD, Martha Nydam of Hudsonville, MI, Viola Breukelman of California, Virginia Nydam of Corsica, SD and Dorothy (Virgil) Vreugdenhil of Stickney, SD; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Eleanor was preceded in death by her parents, Arie and Minnie Nydam; seven siblings: Nellie (Adrian) Van Drongelen, Agnes (Gerrit) Wolbrink, Bertha (Nick) Zwaan, Ben (Ruth) Nydam, Herman Nydam, John Nydam, Winfred Nydam and first wife, Sylvia; two brothers-in-law: Roy Saldin and John Breukelman.
