Maxine Schlepuetz, 88, of Sioux Falls, SD, formerly of Kimball, SD, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, January 15, 2019 with her family at her side at Ava’s House by Sanford, Sioux Falls. Funeral Mass is 10:30 A.M. Monday, January 21, 2019 at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Kimball. A Committal Service will follow at St. Margaret’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Sunday, January 20, 2019 with a 7:00 P.M. Rosary and Wake Service.

Mary Maxine (Mairose) Schlepuetz was born on April 2, 1930 to Peter and Irene (Sims) Mairose in White Lake, SD. She attended both the Catholic and public schools in White Lake and graduated in 1948. Maxine worked at Rainbow Café in Chamberlain, SD. In 1948, she married Delmar Washechek and farmed South of Kimball. They later moved to a farm Northwest of Kimball; Delmar passed away in 1973. Maxine married Bud Schlepuetz in 1974 and they farmed North of Kimball; Bud passed away in 2002. Maxine moved to Sioux Falls, SD in 2010 to the Inn on Westport.
Maxine was a charter member of Catholic Daughters of the Americas and a group leader for the St. Margaret’s Alter Society for 25 years. She served as secretary on the Waldro Township Board for 30 years. Maxine was known for her crocheting and knitting projects as well as her gardening skills.
Grateful for having shared in Maxine’s life: her three children: Gary (Jackie) Washechek, Daryl (Rita) Washechek and Mary (Dan) Chmela; six grandchildren: Theresa (Matt) Koscak, Cory (Jean) Washechek, Steven (Maria) Washechek, Marissa (Nick) Miller, Amanda (Andrew) Wixon and Lucas Chmela; 13 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild; along with many nieces and nephews.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, Peter and Irene Mairose; two husbands: Delmar Washechek and Bud Schlepuetz; a sister, Delores Stanton; and a granddaughter, Janet Washechek.
