David Calvin Kuipers was born on September 3, 1952, in Platte, SD to Henry C. and Hermina (Van Dam) Kuipers. Dave graduated from Dakota Christian High School in 1970 and attended National College in Rapid City, SD where he studied business.
On December 9, 1972, Dave married Marcia Niewenhuis at the New Holland Christian Reformed Church. Dave was an active member and Deacon in the Platte Christian Reformed Church, served on the Platte Christian School Board, the Darlington Township Board, and was a member of the Gideons.
During their 41-year marriage, Dave and Marcia worked side-by-side operating their family farm and their flooring installation business. Dave and Marcia loved traveling to see new sights, meet new people, and come home with new friends. He was always ready to lend a hand to a neighbor or friend who needed it, and he would drop everything to give tractor or 4-wheeler rides to his grandkids. Dave worked tirelessly on the family farm and enjoyed going to auctions. Most of all, he loved sharing a cup of coffee or a beer with his family, friends and neighbors. Dave loved a good story or a joke, and his laugh was truly contagious.
