Pegge Jane Pranger, 89, of Platte, SD passed away Friday, May 24, 2019 at Avera Dougherty Hospice House in Sioux Falls, SD. Memorial Services will be 2:30 P.M. Monday, May 27, 2019 at the Platte Christian Reformed Church.

Pegge Pranger was born on December 24, 1929 to Lloyd John and Alice Fern (Wilson) Foxley in the Platte Hospital, Platte, SD. Her maternal great-grandfather, Charles Wilson, was the first settler in Adair County, Iowa in 1850; her grandfather, J.A. Foxley, homesteaded in Carroll Township in the 1880’s; and her mother & father also homesteaded in Perkins County in 1910 before moving back to the area. She lived her entire life in the Platte area attending Carroll Township grade schools, the Olive Presbyterian Church and graduating from Platte High School in 1947. She taught school for a year, attended National Business School in Sioux City, IA and after a year, was called to assist her mother, who was the Charles Mix County Treasurer, during the boom time brought on by the building of the Pickstown Dam.
On June 9, 1950 she married Beryl Sjoerd Pranger of Platte. This union was blessed with 5 children. She joined the Christian Reformed Church in 1952, where she was a member until her death. She especially enjoyed the Coffee Break Bible Study groups.
Grateful for having shared in her life are her children (4 sons and 1 daughter): John Pranger, grandchild: Kylie (Tyler Hoffman) great grandchildren: Nash, Nora; grandchild: Katy (Tyler Samuelson) great grandchildren: Emma, Ivy, Hattie; grandchild: Joel (Susie Jones); Lorna (Gustavo Valle), grandchildren: Ashley, Wilson (Dana Petersen); Mark Pranger (Cindy Carter), grandchildren: Tyler, Andrew, Joey; Tom Pranger; Tim Pranger, grandchildren: Hunter, Cole, Ashlyn; sisters-in-law: Blanche Foxley and Ruth Pranger.
She enjoyed the travel and friends associated with her husband’s service on the boards of Charles Mix Electric, South Dakota Rural Electric Assn. and the Heartland Consumers Power District. Her entire life she served as a passionate booster of the town of Platte, Platte High and its activities; with special attention focused on the sports of wrestling, volleyball, baseball and football, as well as out-of-state water polo and rowing in which her grandchildren excelled.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Beryl (Jan. 3, 2001); her parents; her brothers: Wendell (Marion) Foxley, Eugene Foxley; sister, Evelyn (Harry) Ellis; her parents-in-law, John and Anne Pranger; sister-in-law, Helen (Arlo) DeHaan (Marv) Rasmussen; and brother-in-law, Bruce Pranger.
