Ramona Arlene (Poelstra) Dykstra was born on June 5, 1937 to Anthony and Jenette (Keizer) Poelstra. She married Dick Dykstra on December 30, 1955 in Armour, SD on a sunny, winter day. Dick and Ramona farmed on the family farm near Platte, SD for the first several years of their marriage, and later started Dykstra’s Department Store in Platte. After they sold the store they moved back to the farm and enjoyed collecting antiques. After Dick passed away in January of 2003 Ramona moved to Platte where she had since resided.
Ramona was a member of the Platte Christian Reformed Church where she attended and served in various offices of Magdalenes. As an avid reader she also enjoyed serving as one of the church librarians for many years. She loved spending her time embroidering, making baby blankets and dish towels for her family, reading, playing dominos and helping with the SCRIP program at DCS. She also cherished visits from her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, siblings and friends.
