Harriet Jean Dalldorf, 77, of Arvada, CO, formerly of Platte, SD passed away Tuesday, March 10, 2020 at Arbor View Nursing Home in Arvada. Funeral Mass is 10:30 A.M. Tuesday, March 17, 2020 at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Platte. A Committal Service will follow at St. Peter’s Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church from 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Monday, March 16, 2020 with a 7:00 P.M. Wake Service.
Harriet Jean (Gustad) Dalldorf was born on June 6, 1942 to John and Marie (Gjoraas) Gustad on the family farm in Pleasant Grove Township, Brule County, SD. She attended Pipal Country School and graduated from Platte High School in 1960. On June 15, 1960 Harriet was united in marriage to Arnold David Dalldorf at St. Margaret’s Catholic Church in Kimball, SD. She was employed at the Platte Care Center as a Certified Nursing Assistant and Activities Aide.
An active member of St. Peter’s Catholic Church and Altar Society, Harriet also enjoyed bowling, crocheting, quilting and joining in the activities of the Red Hat Society.
Grateful for having shared in Harriet’s life, her five children: Patricia “Patti” (Chick) Cavallero of Severance, CO, James “Jim” (Shannon) Dalldorf of Loveland, CO, Jacqueline “Jackie” (Clyde) McCann of Severance, CO, John (Nida) Dalldorf of Summerset, SD and Penny Overweg of Mitchell, SD; 11 grandchildren: Ricky and Scott Dalldorf, Nicholas, Nathan and Jenna McCann, Charlie and Evelyn Dalldorf and Tanner, Kassidy, Parker and Dawson Overweg; two step grandchildren: Casey and Kelly Cavallero; step great grandchildren: a brother, Richard Gustad of Platte, SD; two sisters: Joan Falor of Platte, SD and Janet McConnel of Sioux Falls, SD; along with several nieces and nephews.
Harriet was preceded in death by her husband, Arnold Dalldorf (Dec. 30, 2012); a step great grandson, Leo; her parents, John and Marie Gustad; a sister, Beverly Munger; parents-in-law, William and Gertrude Dalldorf; two brothers-in-law: Billy and Joe Dalldorf; and a sister-in-law, Anna Reimer.
